This bird is at the home of Susan Beree in Rockport, Texas. She posted the following information on TX-HUMMER listserv on 2/20/06:

I walked out on the backyard to try for another hummingbird for the GBBC, and told my husband "I'm going to get a Calliope"--(I was joking). I came in hyperventilating--after seeing a male Costa's. I watched him feed on a large powder puff (south side of the house), then he perched for a long time. There was no doubt what I had, although I did look in the bird book when I came back inside--thinking it couldn't be true. Ten people saw him yesterday [2/19], between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. I'll put chairs out in front. He was also seen in back, but the yard is a mess from starting my annual pruning. (We also have a female Rufous and a Buff-bellied or two). Susan Beree--Rockport (1607 Bayshores, 361-729-4010)
