Measurements:
Exposed culmen = 17.66 mm
Wing length = 41.26 mm
Tail length = 25.0 mm
Mass = 3.49 g
Fat = slight amount noted

gorgets Figure 1. The full gorget was a brilliant, iridescent rose-red with a tinge of purple-violet along the bottom 80% of the throat. The top 20% or so had a dark black band that extended across most of the chin area like in BCHU, except that the black band was narrow. The gorget lacked any long and slender "rayed effect" feathers of Calliope or Costa's.

wing Figure 2. Wing measurement of 41.26MM normal for BCHU male, but considerably longer than the 36.5-40.25MM which would have been normal for RTHU. Wing shape was only very slightly curved at the tip as in RTHU. The inner primaries were considerably more narrow than the outside primaries, unlike what we would expect to see in Calypte influenced bird.

hybrid retrices Figure 3. Tail in this adult bird was short (25.0MM). Normal for BCHU, but much shorter than we expect to see in adult male RTHU, which should run from 26.5MM to 29MM. Also, the tail of this hybrid was shallow-forked as expected for BCHU, unlike the deeply forked tail of RTHU.

dorsal view Figure 4. Back color was dull and rather "flat" green as normally seen in BCHU. Unlike the more lustrous, shiny and darker iridescent green found in RTHU. The crown had a few scattered brown feathers, but was mostly green as in RTHU.

Bill length was 17.66MM, which is a little shorter than what I expect in an adult male BCHU, but longer than the 15.50-16.50MM that is more normal for RTHU.

No Rufous color was noted in the body feathers or tail, which appeared to eliminate any selasphorus influence.
